Days and nights of high humidity have slowed most Berliners' pace of late - mine, anyway. This is ghastly weather. The air becomes so laden with moisture that you feel it cling to your summery clothes and stick to your skin. I used to have a good air conditioner for the bedroom. It cooled the air and extracted excess humidity, leaving me feeling cheery. But a neighbor complained without grounds about my a/c unit, forcing the building manager to ban its use. Now I have a far less advanced cooling unit that's situated entirely inside the bedroom. It sucks humidity from the air and then feeds it into a white plastic bucket that sits on the floor. Last night the bucket was empty, but by this morning it nearly overflowed. This afternoon another bucket full of water was collected in just a few hours. I fear another full bucket night is ahead.
